Hi there my name is Barbara, I've been Diabetic since I was 3 and I'm 25 now. I'm not coping too badly as I've been getting a lot of help from my nurse and I've been on a pump for nearly 2 years.
The reason for this post is because I co-ownd a handbag shop with my mum which I love. But I've always felt that my own handbag is basicly a disorganised mess that I lug all my diabetic devices in along with my purse and everything else. I very rarley have a small bag because it just wouldn't be able to carry everything and those cross body bags with all the comparments just don't excite me. I want something that is fashionable but functional. So what I've been thinking is I could either design some fashionable funky bags that have special comparments for diabetic use or an insert for a handbag which can be put into existing bags.
Now I ask for your help, does anyone have any ideas what compartments they would want in these bags. I've had a few ideas, like a small container to put used blood testing sticks in or used sharps. Insulin pen, blood testing machine and book holders ect.....
I'd love to hear what you think and I'll update if and when there are any developments. Also, if people who think this is a silly idea please let me know, as I don't want to waste my time. It's only an idea and as you're my target group, I think it's important that I listen to your thoughts are. Thanks Babs xxxx
