All very exciting, ITV news came to film in Towcester yesterday. On the news at 6.30pm there was a report abot how retailers are copeing with the credit cruch and recession. For approximatly 10seconds the reporter was standing outside the Drop Dead Gorgeous shop talking about the town. Yay! Prime Time TV!

Hi there my name is Barbara, I've been Diabetic since I was 3 and I'm 25 now. I'm not coping too badly as I've been getting a lot of help from my nurse and I've been on a pump for nearly 2 years.
The reason for this post is because I co-ownd a handbag shop with my mum which I love. But I've always felt that my own handbag is basicly a disorganised mess that I lug all my diabetic devices in along with my purse and everything else. I very rarley have a small bag because it just wouldn't be able to carry everything and those cross body bags with all the comparments just don't excite me. I want something that is fashionable but functional. So what I've been thinking is I could either design some fashionable funky bags that have special comparments for diabetic use or an insert for a handbag which can be put into existing bags.
Now I ask for your help, does anyone have any ideas what compartments they would want in these bags. I've had a few ideas, like a small container to put used blood testing sticks in or used sharps. Insulin pen, blood testing machine and book holders ect.....
I'd love to hear what you think and I'll update if and when there are any developments. Also, if people who think this is a silly idea please let me know, as I don't want to waste my time. It's only an idea and as you're my target group, I think it's important that I listen to your thoughts are. Thanks Babs xxxx

Back from holiday

Hi, so I decided to return from spain, although it was very difficult. I think I was made to laze about on the beach all day and party all night. Any way, I just thought I'd write a little about the autumn trend that I saw whilst in spain and from the jewellery and handbag reps that have been to see us recently. First thing that I've noticed is there is a lot of studding commimg in, from clothes to belts to bags it seema a very stong look for this A/W, also on a similar vien is chains, it's all very rock chick. With Jewelley there is a lot of bright strong pinks, purples and greens. The looks for A/W are very powerful and sexy so come on girls dress like you own the show.
The second point I'd like to make today is that, I'd like to give the Fiorelli bag Kellyhttp://www.ddghandbags.co.uk/products/Funky-Kelly-Shoulder-Bag-By-Fiorelli-%28lime%29.html an award for "Babs' Best Holiday Bag 2009".
It's best features are listed below.

The Lime colour was very versitile and went with most of my outfit colours.
It was just big enough to carry my essentials in during the day.
It was also small enough to use at night when dancing.
The size meant I could put it into my hand luggage with ease.
It was secure from thieves as it has a good zip fastening and was easily stcked under your arm.
It doubled up as a pillow when laying on the beach.
Most importantly it looked very stylish.

All in all I was a very good choice to take on holiday, even though it wasn't going to be my primary bag, I ended up using it most of the time.

Hi everyone it's me Margaret not Babs this time as she's on holiday and I've been instructed to write a blog. I enjoyed my holiday in Barcelona when I finally made it. It was cut short by four days by me losing my passport and having to queue up at Peterbourgh a tip you can no longer get a lost passport on the same day and you have to wait up to a week for them to send it to you so look after that precious passport.

Well what a mixed bag of weather we're having you just don't know what to put on or take off . As for accessories, just now, a key one seems to be an umbrella we have some great Betty Boop ones a red with white spots and black with lips.

We still are getting lots of customers looking for accessories to go with wedding and special occassion outfits so if that describes you the don't forget we now have space in the back shop for you to try on your outfit with the accessories, which saves time in the long run as you get the right ones first time.

As many of you know we do the odd repair and remodelling of jewellery and fascinators at the shop, at the moment I'm putting together a price list for this. So look out for it as I will post on the website as soon as it's available.

Mum got back from Barcelona yesterday, armed with some jewellery that she bought from a wholesaler. I had a root through what she bought and found spakly earrings, fab pearl studds, gorgoeous bangles and funky beads. All for very reasonable prices so I will put them out in the shop ASAP and when I get a chance i'll try and put it on the website. I highly doubt that will be too soon though, as I too am jetting off tomorrow.
I'll ask mum (Margaret) to write a blog while I'm away to keep DDG news up to date.

Blinging

I had a customer in the shop yesterday, who was going to be mother of the bride in a few weeks. She had an amazing Fuschia pink oufit and she was looking for a shawl and some jewellery. She told me that although the dress was Fuschia her facinator had some green mixed in with the pink. So she picked some green crystal jeweller and a pink shawl, and I sugested that if she wanted to follow the green through to her bag and shoes, that we could add some green heat fix crystals. Which she was delighted with, so I'm blinging them at the moment and they look really pretty. So just to make people a bit more aware that we can alter items even if they are bought elseware. In the past we have added feathers to facinators and beads to jewellery so if you are struggling to find the colour that you need, then we may be able to help you to find what you need.

Holidays

Although it's chucking it down out side, my mum has managed to get away on her well deserved Holiday to Barcelona. I would say I'm jelous but I myself will be jetting off to Barca next week.
So while I've been at the shop on my own, I've decided it would be good to do a design a handbag competition. I'm not launching it yet but keep tuned in and I'll let you know when it's launched.

Like Minded Woman Event

So I went to the shop today to finish the decorating of the new lounge, and with the help of my friend Philomena Connelly (of Shaping Homes www.shapinghomes.co.uk) we have made it look fab. Just in time for the Like Minded Women meeting tomorrow at La Strada. I'm looking forward to showing our hard work off tomorrow and I hope all the ladies like it.
We are starting our mid season sale this tuesday, there will be 20% off all items that aren't already reduced, so if there is something you've had your eye on, nows your best chance. I hope everyone gets what they want.

New back room

Very excited as we have a new stock room, out the back of the shop. Which means we will A:- be better organised B:- means we can have a lounge/dressing room out the back for customers who want to try their oufits on and we can help to accessorize, and C:- Probably the best thing is that we will be having a party to celebrate. We are obviously still in the planning stage but any one who knows me, knows that I love a good party. So I'll keep you all posted.
I'm also getting very excited about the Towcestrians ball on the 12th. I've got my dress so all I need is my bag and bling and I'm ready to go. I'm sure that can be arranged quite easily.

New Fiorelli Bags

Just in, new Fiorelli bags, in new gorgeous limes, nudes, grapes and lipstick colours. In a very luxury leather look PU material, with stud detailing and bow styling. I'm quite tempted by the gorgeous Nude bag called Kelly (http://www.ddghandbags.co.uk/products/Funky-Kelly-Shoulder-Bag-By-Fiorelli-%28Nude%29.html). It's big, it's squidgy and looks so stylish, what more could I want. The colour is great and will go with most things. All I need now is a good reason, for why I need another bag. I'm sure it wont be too difficult.
Also new in, is some funky multi coloured jewellery. This is always brilliant, because you can match it to lots of different coloured outfits, but also add some detail and texture to more simple garments (http://www.ddghandbags.co.uk/products/Flowery-necklace-and-earrings-set-by-Buckle-moda.html).
This year seems to be all about having fun with colour, so my advice is, be brave and have a go. Experiment, you never know what might work for you. Don't be affraid of colour as it can make you feel really good.
